Meetings and celebrations in an atmosphere steeped in history

Palais Niederösterreich and Conference Center Laxenburg

For some locations, it is necessary to invest a small fortune to make it extraordinary and attractive. Others, however, are so marked by such individuality and beauty, that one can hardly dare to interfere with the existing ambience. The Palais Niederösterreich, located in the heart of Vienna, and the Conference Center Laxenburg at the gates of the capital city are counted clearly to the second category. Alone the historical significance of the event locations deserves a large portion of veneration and respect.

The Palais Niederösterreich offers an elegant atmosphere for up to 670 guests. The four large ceremonial rooms on the second floor (Rittersaal, Herrensaal, Prälatensaal and Landtagssaal) betray a lot of stirring history of the buildings. At one time, political representatives of the four so-called estates, the knights, nobles, prelates and townsmen, met here in order to hold assemblies near the reigning prince in Vienna. Later, the Palais was used as location of the Lower Austrian Provincial Parliament and then, on October 21, 1918, the first constituted Assembly of the National Assembly of the new Austrian State was held in the magnificent Landhaussaal.

After the Lower Austrian Parliament moved to St. Pölten, the Palais was lovingly renovated and restored following the guidelines for the protection of historical monuments. Whether multi-media projection, interpreting facilities, wireless LAN or conference equipment is needed - all these requirements are organizational trifles for the event coordination team, which has recently been expanded by adding Ursula Korntheuer, a new managing director assistant. Therefore, it is not to be wondered that clients such as the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Culture Ministry, SAP or the Erste Bank head a long reference list for the house. The Palais Niederösterreich also offers an interesting alternative for wedding parties for whom the banquet halls of their home town appear too bleak. After the marriage ceremony in the in-house Landhaus chapel, an illustrious and unforgettable wedding celebration is guaranteed.

Show-cooking in the imperial theater

The Conference Center Laxenburg offers a truly majestic atmosphere for meetings and events. At one time, Maria Theresia and her royal household enjoyed themselves here with theatrical performances and culinary delicacies. For hundreds of years, Laxenburg was the most important home of the Habsburgs alongside Schönbrunn and the Hofburg. Fortunately, much of the elegance of this time has been maintained, such as the grandiose ceiling fresco of Vinzenz Fischer in the Oval Saal. The congress center has a total of three seminar rooms and five ceremonial rooms which create a festive atmosphere for up to 500 guests.

Maria Theresia could never have dreamed of the technical sophistication the former imperial theater and dining rooms offer today. Providing wireless LAN and interpreting facilities, as well as all equipment necessary for congresses and meetings, Laxenburg has become one of the first addresses when it comes to international meetings. The highest culinary tradition of the location remains yet unchanged. After the complete renovation of the kitchen, the Conference Center Laxenburg is broadening its scope to offer its own Show-Cooking-Program with a beautiful view overlooking the palace gardens starting in January 2010. None other than the award-winning chef Adi Bettermann and the team from Trabisch Catering are responsible for this venture. Of course the new kitchen is also available for use by all other catering partners!

With the Palais Niederösterreich and the Conference Center Laxenburg, the city of Vienna offers two very unique locations for which historical significance, imperial majestic and modern technology are combined under one roof. The team from AustriaCongress will happily create a tailor-made meeting package for you! More information on both locations can be found on the AustriaCongress website.
