History

In 1736 Schloss Leopoldskron was commissioned by Archbischop Firmian as new family estate. After various owners Max Reinhardt, famous theater director and co-founder of the Salzburg Festival, purchased the castle in 1918. He made Schloss Leopoldskron the center of the cultural and social live in Salzburg. Since 1947 it has been home to the SALZBURG SEMINAR, an international educational institution. The Seminar brings together leaders from around the world to discuss political, econimic, social and cultural issues.
